Opening performance by Kacper Ziemianin and  Dewi de Vree

Dewi de Vree decided, instead of presenting her own work, to curate and invite her art science/ sonology colleagues for an exhibition. And because again we did not raise enough funding, unfortunately there was no room to show Dewi’s own work. Inconvenient. But maybe I am also be proud that we speak a different language than the apparatsjiks of the Dutch art funds. Pierre Albers was the one who thought I should see Dewi’s work. I saw a performance in which charcoal makes sound while Dewi was drawing on large sheets of white paper, very impressive. Months later, Pierre, his sister and I were eating on our lawn on a sunny evening amongst the neighborhood millionaires. Meanwhile, a sound performance was held. Under a large umbrella a battery of equipment and lots of boxes were stalled. On the jetty, someone wrapped in a long black sock without a face crawled past the rowing boats. Fred, a genuine Hagenees -compare Cockney accent- was the waiter that night. Straight through the freaky sounds, to which the dinner guests paid little attention anyway, Fred walked to our little ferry and called in a strong The Hague accent to someone across the canal: “Dude, you forgot your wallet.” Pierre looked at me and said, “Rayk, Wim T. Schippers is nothing compared to this .” I thought that was a nice compliment
