Dinu Comendant graduated from the fine arts department at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague summer 2016, with his site-specific stop-motion animation The Walking Thinker. In the Bunker we showed Dinu’s graduation work. A little 'walking thinker' is Dinu Comendants alter ego. He travels through different culture zones and questions what he encounters on his way. A big walking thinker was be present in the Bunker too.
Next to this we presented the installation New Man for which Dinu Comendant took pieces from his past in Moldova to investigate today. The result is a re-encounter with his late grandfather leading to an exploration of physics and electromagnetic materials. In the warmest room of the Bunker you could see it yourself.
Dinu Comendant is from the Republic of Moldova and has a background in theatre. He came to the Netherlands via Romania, Kiev and Paris to study at the Rietveld Academy. After one year he decided to go to KABK in The Hague, where he recently graduated. His graduation video was nominated for the TENT Academy Awards 2016 and won the Public Choice Award.
